    • When using your online dating account from a public computer, disable your auto-login feature and be sure to log out, clear the browser history and quit the browser when you’re done.

 

    • Stay anonymous until you feel ready – trust your instincts.

 

    • If you feel threatened, unsafe or encounter misbehavior, report the person to the dating website.

 

    • Never give out your password or username.

    • The person asks you for money or offers a “too good to be true” deal to you.

Tips For Meeting An Online Friend For The First Time

    • Tell a friend or family member where you’re going, who you’re meeting and give them a reference to the page and website you used to meet this person.

 

    • Always meet in a public place – never, never, never in a private or remote location or someone’s home – period.

 

    • Take a friend along whose job isn’t to say much but who quietly analyzes the person you’re meeting.

 

    • Carry your mobile phone with you to the meeting.

 

    • Don’t consume alcoholic beverages before or during the meeting. Stay sober – don’t impair your judgment or ability to think.
